autumn is here

so once again its that time of year, where the leaves  begin to change, the days are getting colder and shorter. yeah folks thats right here in the southern hemisphere its autumn and almost time for the winter chill.

it is a beautiful time of year where the leaves go from green, to rich oranges and from that to dark browns until they finally die, fall to the ground, slowly wither away and die...

I always find it funny how the change of season brings change in peoples lives. even if you don't want change, it still comes, good or bad, there is nothing you can do about it. unfortunate isn't it?

that brings me to my next thought. Why do people fight change? what happened to the old saying, change is as good as a holiday? Is it maybe because people fear this change cause it would change that which they have become used to, and they scared about whats new, and what lies beyond? interesting isn't it? give it a think and let me know what you guys think about it.

SOULFLY ENSLAVED FULL REVIEW

now if you guys remember, a few weeks ago I talked bait about the new Soulfly album, Enslaved.

well i finally got the album, and now I can do a full review on the the album that's being hailed as the lost Sepultura album...

now the album starts off with an intro song, interesting seeing that its soulfly's second album that has an intro (other album with an intro is Dark Ages).
the album starts off heavy and continues with a heavy theme, songs that you just feel the need to bang your head to. Bringing a very thrash feeling to thhe album
One thing I am happy about is the fact that they brought back the interesting musical components that made them famous, interesting musical movements with instruments you never thought you would hear on a metal album.
the heaviest song on the album is by far world scum, never stopping the constant onslaught of heavy guitars and an even heavier drum track, an amazing song, with deep lyrics, featuring the vocals of Travis Ryan from Cattle Decapitation fame.
other guest appearances include Dez Fafara from Coal Chamber and Devildriver and also Richie Cavalera from Incite and Zyon, and Igor Cavalera and Lody Kong. Dez Fafara appears on Redemption Of Man By God, and Richie and Igor Cavalera appear on Revengeance.
The Soulfly VIII song, and old stalemate on soulfly albums, this time featuring violins and a few other random instruments, another amazing track.

soulfly has again released another brilliant album, heavier than the previous and a must listen for anyone who has ever thought of liking a sepultura or soulfly song.
I give this album a solid 8.5 out of 10.

the new line up, tony campos, max cavalera, david kinkade, marc rizzo

why war...

so i think i figured it out, well maybe just my thoughts on it, but i think its pretty damn close to the truth.

man fights wars and such to show superiority or gain of wealth. i really can't think of any other reasons, it all boils done to superiority. i want to be the biggest, strongest and most feared. its the most basic human instinct, and it literally is shown in most cases in aggression.

now the unfortunate thing is, that war always ends in mass loss of life... people die every day, but in war, they die for no good reason actually. but that person that runs there with his gun, or weapon, believes in something, he is fighting for some ideal or believe that is distilled in him.
now that all soldiers are like this, there are a lot of them that are, but the scary thing for me is, how can a government or one government official corrupt your view or ideals that much?
now I'm not saying there is anything wrong with this, I'm just thinking, do these people still know what they are fighting for, or what they are fighting about??

now this is a song by soul fly, called moses. they have many songs that handle war, but this one puts out the reasons the best for me...

here are the lyrics:

What is wrong with humans from beginning of creation
Brutal dem a never gonna change no I
Father give dem life dat dem turn to sufferation
Politics dem worship in dem rage
They will never make to rule my life
No matter what takes I'm breaking their breaks
With Jah love humanity survive
No matter what takes I'm breaking their breaks

Moses, Moses where are u?
Please! Show up tell the children what to do

Father of creation
Give me inspiration
Father of creation
Give me inspiration
(is armmaggideon time)

What is wrong with humans from beginning of creation
Brutal dem a never gonna change no I
Father give dem life dat dem turn to sufferation
Politics dem worship in dem rage
They will never make to rule my life Ready Aim Fire

The
No matter what takes I'm breaking their breaks
With God love humanity survive
No matter what takes I'm breaking their breaks

Moses, Moses where are u?
Please! Show up tell the children what to do

Father of creation
Give me inspiration
Father of creation
Through da sufferation

In this world that seems so lost
Are we warriors, are we not?
So many battles I have fought
So many more, I'm a soldier of God
Men against men I don't understand
Hate breeds hate in this rat race
We against you, watching you fall
Follow me know, blood of my blood

In this world that seems so lost
Are we warriors, are we not?
So many battles I have fought
So many more, I'm a soldier of God

Tribal war
Jungle law
Follow me now
Blood of my blood

Moses, Moses where are u?
Please! Show up tell the children what to do

pretty Christian orientated, but it still brings the point across...

Collectors Treasury

A few weeks ago, I met a guy at my local vinyl dealer, and was told about a place called Collectors Treasury...
He continued to tell me that they deal in old and rear books, and vinyl! now this sold me, 'cause I'm totally in love with old books and vinyl.

this week, it was wednesday, me and my mate chris decided after class that we are going to find this place. so with an address and a round about idea of where it is, off we went.
we found it without too much of a palava. we stood outside not expecting much, its housed in a 8 storey building, and we had no idea of the sheer size of this place until we walked in.

inside we were greeted by the proprietor of the establishment, a very friendly old man, after a quick explanation of what we can find where, off we went to explore.

now I honestly don't know how I can explain the size of this place in words, it is awe inspiring to say the least.
we found our way into the rare books collection first, down stairs (the lowest level), and it honestly felt like walking into a museum. it was amazing, books older than i ever thought i would see. ranging form Livingstone's travels through south africa 1st edition to bibles from the 1800's printed in hebrew, german and french. it was amazing.

i couldn't a photo where you could see how many books there actually is!

it felt like we walked into the london museum of natural history down there.

this is the one old bible we found, printed in hebrew, in 1798...

just paging through it, it felt like i was going through history, looking at something, that someone used many years ago to find guidance.

now except for books, they have many collectibles that they deal with, mainly from the era of 1870-1970.
they have millions of old photos, maps, china, paintings and pictures.

one i found and i died a little bit inside when i saw it was an original hand wheel form a sherman tank from the second world war!

pretty damn cool isn't it...

when were done looking at the books, now don't get me wrong we didn't look at all of them, we just couldn't anymore...
we went up to the 5th floor, where they keep all the vinyl, now the old man said they have over half a million, and i honestly thought he was putting it on a bit, but good lord he wasn't joking! we walked out of the lift, and just saw rack apron rack of vinyl! it was amazing, i was in my element and i just couldn't believe it, it was crazy!
after about 2 hours of looking through the records, and finding led zeppelin III and the history of the who double lp, we gave and said we will come back another day...

this place is amazing, do yourself a favor and go check it out if you love old things, but, do it when you ca take an entire day off to look through everything, you'll need a full day!!!!!!
